Denise Abel

Client Support Specialist, HR Services

Denise has a wealth of experience in the health insurance industry working more than 12 years with health insurance carriers, clients, and employee benefits.  Denise brings her knowledge of a HR generalist to the Alera ConnectHR team as a Client Support Specialist where she will be responding to staff benefit questions, processing qualifying life events, new hires, personnel change forms, new hire training, and benefit enrollment.

A compassionate advocate for her clients, Denise is dedicated to assisting with important employee benefits and looks forward to working with a diversity of responsibilities and people.

She earned a master's degree in recreation administration from Indiana University, and fittingly, enjoys getting outdoors with her husband to hike, run, cycle, backpack, and kayak.  After a brief stint in the Southwest, she came back to Alaska in 2019.  Denise regularly volunteers with organizations in the community and is an animal lover - she says she always has a houseful of dogs (and at least one cat).
